IT WAS POPULAR

An immersive musical performance unfolding across multiple rooms, where audiences move freely through shifting sonic environments. Drawing on the language of club music, the work disassembles the experience of a shared space into its social, sonic and perceptual layers — from casual encounters and intimate listening to collective rhythm and an unexpected outdoor encounter.

Through a headphone system that allows these worlds to gradually overlap, the piece reveals how a single environment can hold multiple, sometimes conflicting, experiences of belonging. In a time of increasing social and political polarisation, it asks what it means to be together, and whether a shared space can still contain difference without dissolving it.
